Yup, I have been somewhat delinquent about posting lately. So shoot me. I just haven't had too much to chat about lately. But today is a different story! For a change I have some good things to say :)
First off, I would like to share some good news that we received yesterday regarding our adoption. We are officially LID December 14, 2006!! In adoption speak that means that our dossier is now logged into the system at the China Centre for Adoption Affair (lovingly known as CCAA). Hey, it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things, but a little bone thrown now and again is good for the spirits. The rumors are still flying that the wait times might just keep increasing. RQ forecasts that it could be as late as June/July 2009 to travel to China with our LID. NOPE! I'm not going down that road.
So...you sigh. Is this going to be another one of the many New Year's resolution posts that keep hitting the WWW? No way. I am not going to make any resolutions and set myself up for potential disappointment. That's not to say that I don't intend to work on some things. One can always strive for self awareness/improvement, right? I just reserve the right not to voice the specifics. But fun is definitely on the list. And I started with that before last year ended.
Let me just say "beer mile". I don't know how people like Jimmy Finn do it?! The guy, a runner god to some, holds the record for a 5:15 beer mile. Yes-I do mean 5 minutes and 15 seconds. Holy freakin' crap! I was happy to come in under 15 minutes without having to run a penalty lap. Anyhoo, it was a fun time even if there were only 3 of us that braved the event.
What do I hope the New Year will bring? No expectations really. I do hope that it doesn't bring any more loss like last year did. There were some pretty great people in my life that I had to say goodbye to. I miss them terribly.
Firsts. That's a good goal. To have some "firsts" checked off the list of things to do in life before I have to go. To complete my first Half Ironman. To finally do that overnight hike with Cheekster that we talk about all the time. To travel with Darren to someplace other than Ontario (no offence family, but I want that beach vacation). To actually take action instead of talking about doing things all the time. Uh oh. I think that this is starting to sound like resolutions. I'm going to quit while I am ahead.
Onwards and upwards!!

Hey guys,
congratulations on the good news! I'll keep my fingers crossed that the waiting time isn't as long as they predict. Happy New Year Skuj!
Oh hey, thanks Jimmy.
On your blog I went "hahaha" to your epic wet run story....but, I know it wasn't all funny....how are you?
Heather and I spent a few days in Paradise, aka Long Beach, last week...OMFG we love that place. One of the most beautiful things ever, which I'd strangely never done before, was the walk from the Schooner Cove lot to that Beach...a boardwalk through Heaven...my words cannot do it justice....
Anyway, a great way to start a great new year....I think I want to live in Tofino. I'll pump gas. I don't care. Mmmmm....
